Grants and Scholarships
CGES offers a number of grants for students and faculty to sponsor research and travel to Germany and Europe. Deadlines are usually in the Spring semester, but if you have questions during the year, do not hesitate to contact us!
Max Kade Travel Grants
In cooperation with the Max Kade Foundation of New York, the Center for German and European Studies at Brandeis University is pleased to announce the 2008 Max Kade Travel Grants for research and study in Germany. Recipients will be awarded a stipend of up to $1,000 to cover travel expenses (cost for transportation: airfare, local transportation, train, bus, etc., but no hotel expenses) to Germany, or German-speaking countries of Europe, for a German-related research project like a dissertation, a senior thesis, or study abroad. All currently enrolled Brandeis students, undergraduate and graduate, are eligible to apply.
To apply, please submit the application form (.pdf), a one-page CV, a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, and a statement of purpose to the:

The application deadline is April 18, 2008 at 3 pm. Applicants will be notified of decisions by May 31.
Awards will be given as follows: Applicants will receive a travel/research costs reimbursement. Please note that the travel must have occurred between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008 (!).
