Welcome to the Faculty Senate Website

The Faculty Senate puts into practice the University’s longstanding commitment to shared governance.

Under shared governance, Brandeis faculty take leadership roles on matters over which they have primary responsibility such as curriculum, pedagogy, research, and faculty career development. Brandies faculty are consulted on all other matters that affect their well-being such as appointments in academic leadership and COVID policies.

The Senate represents the interests of the whole faculty in the University’s non-stop process of improvement and growth. The Senate is consulted regularly by the Provost and President and collaborates with the administration on many matters. The Senate shares faculty views with the administration both informally and formally. It appoints faculty representatives to major committees and reviews appointments to positions of academic leadership.
