Rabbi Eric Yoffie, president of the Union for Reform Judaism since 1996, announced he will step down in two years at the age of 65. As URJ president, Yoffie spearheaded the campaign to transform Reform worship and liturgy and use a more participatory musical style.

Esther Heller of Menlo Park, Calif., finished her term as president of Keddem Congregation. She was elected to the California State Association of Parliamentarians.

Paula Apsell of Newton, Mass., senior executive producer of the television series “Nova” and director of the WGBH Science Unit, received an honorary degree in science education from Dickinson College.

The Reverend Richard Curran served 101 days as chaplain aboard the cruise ship Queen Mary 2. He writes, “I was privileged to host a luncheon in Cape Town, South Africa, for Reverend Desmond Tutu and his wife, Leah, as well as  the clergy passengers aboard ship.”
