Haile Menkerios, a native of Eritrea, was appointed special representative to Sudan by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Haile had served as the U.N.’s assistant secretary-general for political affairs since 2007.

Marcia Bloomberg and her husband, Jerry Fish, have been married for 35 years. She created the Nonprofit National Resource Directory (www.nonprofitnationalresourcedirectory.com) to link nonprofit organizations to consultants dedicated to helping them. She recently celebrated the marriage of daughter Dasi. Marcia’s son Nate is featured in “Holy Land Hardball,” a documentary film about the founding of the Israel Baseball League.

Nancy Lazarus and her husband are both physicians and work for the Veterans Administration health care system. She writes, “Two out of three boys are married. But, alas, no grandchildren yet.”

Rand Engel is director of Balkan Sunflowers in Kosovo, where he has worked since the 1999 conflict. His primary focus is the Learning Centers Network, which supports education for about 500 disadvantaged minority youth.

Pranay Gupte was named head of editorial for the government of Dubai’s media office. He had been a correspondent with The New York Times.
