Existing Data Application Procedure
Research involving the use of existing data may also be exempt.
If your research involves the collection or study of existing data, documents, records, pathological specimens, or diagnostic specimens, and these sources are publicly available or the information is recorded by the investigator in such a manner that subjects cannot be identified, directly or through identifiers linked to the subjects, the research may qualify for an exemption.
To apply for exemption, please submit one copy of the following:
Existing Data Review Request and a brief protocol (guidelines are attached to form) to address the purpose of the study and data analysis plans. Include a letter permitting your use of the data unless the data is publicly available. REMEMBER:
In order to qualify for exemption, data must either be available to the public or recorded in a way so that the subjects are not identifiable. |
