I am pleased to welcome you to Brandeis University.
Brandeis is a private research university offering the intimate teaching environment of a small liberal arts college within a leading research enterprise focused on discovery and public engagement.
Our faculty are passionate teachers actively advancing knowledge through scholarship and research. Across the university, from the Mandel Center for the Humanities and the Shapiro Science Center, to the Heller School for Social Policy and Management and the Brandeis International Business School, we are an interdisciplinary, diverse learning community committed to improving the world.
We think and act globally, pursuing knowledge through scientific partnerships in India, Korea and Israel; collaborations with visiting world musicians on campus and exhibitions of international artists at the Rose Art Museum. We develop social justice projects in the far corners of the world, to cite a few examples of Brandeis’ global character.
Our history as one of the youngest highly acclaimed private research universities in the country, and the only nonsectarian university in the United States with roots in the Jewish community, fuels our intellectual boldness and our commitment to social justice. The university’s namesake, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis — a great champion of the rights of individuals and of social equity — embodied the intellectual spirit and civic engagement we cherish.
I invite you to learn more about Brandeis. I’m confident you’ll discover teachers and students who challenge and engage you, a campus that welcomes you, and an interest in the common good that inspires you. We look forward to sharing our story with you, and to discovering yours.
