Leadership update in Communications, Marketing, and External Relations

May 23, 2023

Dear Members of the Brandeis Community,

I write to share news regarding a change in the leadership of Brandeis’ Office of Communications, Marketing, and External Relations. Senior Vice President Dan Kim will be departing at the end of the month to pursue a new opportunity; Julie Jette, currently assistant vice president in the department, will be promoted to interim SVP.

Dan spent nearly four years at Brandeis, overseeing the university’s communications strategy.

He brought a strong background in higher education marketing and communications to the role, which included previous positions at Holy Cross, the University of Michigan, and West Virginia University, along with a kind demeanor.

Later this summer, he will begin in the role of Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Quinnipiac University. We wish Dan the best of luck in his future endeavors.

We are glad that Julie has accepted the role of interim SVP. Since arriving on campus in 2016, she has built upon her strong experience as a journalist to tell stories about Brandeis in exciting and innovative ways.

As AVP, Julie has overseen BrandeisNow, Media Relations, and Internal Communications, and she has worked closely with the central administration and units throughout Brandeis on initiatives to elevate the university’s reputation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led the university’s communications response, providing a thoughtful, measured, steadfast, and compassionate voice during what was an unprecedented time for all of us.

Prior to Brandeis, Julie spent 15 years as a newspaper reporter in New England and Europe, where she covered business, healthcare, and local government. She also spent several years working in media relations at Tufts Medical Center.

Now is a very exciting time at Brandeis, as we enter into our 75th anniversary year, and we celebrate all that is unique and special about our university. This is a moment for us to reflect on how far we have come, toward building something even greater for the future. I am confident that Julie will help to lead us, as we tell this important story to our community of Brandeisians, and the world.

Please join me in congratulating Julie on her new role.

Sincerely,

Ron Liebowitz
