Flu season starts in the fall, usually peaks in Jan. or Feb., with outbreaks occurring through May. Approximately 5-20% of U.S. residents get the flu each year. Each Fall Semester in late September or early October the Health Center offers flu vaccine clinics. Keep your eye out for these dates and plan to get your vaccine!
By Massachusetts State Regulations, all students must have documentation of required vaccines or proof of immunity through blood titers before coming to campus. If documentation is not available, a student must begin all of the required vaccines before coming to campus. Vaccines are available on a walk in basis during the school year from 9:30-11:30 and 1:30-3:30 or by appointment.
Occasionally a student begins an immunization series late and is unable to complete the requirements before arriving on campus. The Health Center is able to help you complete immunizations and Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST). During the summer of 2014 you will be charged a supply fee for the vaccine(s) and TST payable at the time of service. We will give you all the documentation you need to submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider as allowed by your individual plan contract. Starting in the fall of 2014 we will be billing your insurance directly for these charges.
|MMR||65$||2 doses needed to complete series|
|Hep B||60$||3 doses needed to complete series|
|Hep A||95$||2 doses needed to complete series|
|Gardasil (HPV)||150$||3 doses needed to complete series|
|Varivax||100$||2 doses required to complete series.|
Students who believe they were immunized in the past and do not want to be immunized again may have a blood test drawn to detect the presence of antibodies (a titer). Most insurances do not pay for these titers so we have arranged a reasonably priced self pay option to the laboratory providing these services.
