Junior Brandeis Achievers

Junior Brandeis Achievers (JBA) provides free afterschool programming for Stanley Elementary School and Plympton Elementary School students at the schools one day each week. Every semester a variety of clubs are led by Brandeis volunteers, which children sign up for according to their interests. These clubs actively engage Stanley and Plympton students in activities such as cooking, art, improv and science.

Population Served: Stanley (grades 2-5) and Plympton (grades 3-5) elementary school students

Community Partners: Stanley Elementary School, Plympton Elementary School, and Waltham High School

Transportation: Brandeis students walk if going to Stanley as it is next to Brandeis, and coordinators drive a Waltham Group van to take students to Plympton.

How to Participate:

Volunteer Time Commitment: Every Wednesday from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. or Thursday from 2:30 to 4:45 pm is required. In addition, volunteers need to set aside 30 to 60 minutes every week to meet with their other group members to design lesson plans.

JBA is perfect for anyone thinking about becoming a teacher or who loves working with kids. We're always looking for volunteers who want to share their love for science, cooking, art, and more with kids in a classroom setting. JBA is also great for the Clubs in Service initiative. We would love to partner with organizations who are willing to help create lessons and provide volunteers for a semester-long program.
