Summer 2021

Below are Brandeis' COVID-19 policies for the summer of 2021. These policies will remain through Aug. 9, except where otherwise noted as changing during the summer.

Policy June 1 July 6
Indoor Gatherings Maximum 25 people, with 6ft distancing, as feasible 3 ft distancing to capacity of room
Outdoor Gatherings Maximum 50 people, with 6ft distancing, as feasible

June 15: Maximum 150 people, with 6ft distancing, as feasible
Maximum 150 people, with 3ft distancing
Classrooms 3ft distancing, maximum of 30 people in a classroom 3ft distancing to capacity of room
Physical Distancing (in general) 6ft distancing, when feasible 3ft distancing, when feasible
Testing
  • Vaccinated Individuals*: once every other week (every 336 hrs)
  • Unvaccinated Individuals: 2x/wk (every 96 hrs)

*vaccination documentation must be uploaded to the Campus Passport Portal

Visiting
  • Permission not required
  • Must complete Daily Health Assessment, wear a mask, and observe distancing
  • Visitors who spend the night, visit campus more than one day in a row, or come to campus from an international location must show proof to their campus host of a negative rtPCR test from a sample taken within 72 hrs prior to arrival
Travel
  • Fully vaccinated individuals may travel domestically on university sponsored travel or for personal travel without special approval
  • Fully vaccinated individuals may travel internationally with prior written permission from their Dean or VP (undergraduates apply to Dean of Students; graduate students apply to their Graduate Dean: GSAS, Heller, IBS); upon return, travel quarantine is required until a negative test is received.
  • Unvaccinated individuals must contact their Dean or VP for permission to travel domestically or internationally. If approved, upon return, travel quarantine is required until a negative test is received.
Masks
  • Masks are required at all times for unvaccinated individuals and indoors for vaccinated individuals with the exception of eating and drinking with 6ft distancing or while alone in a private office or residence hall room (or with a roommate).
  • Fully vaccinated individuals may remove their masks while outdoors if distance can be maintained and while meeting with one other fully vaccinated in person indoors in an enclosed area.
  • Masks must be worn at all university events whether indoors or outdoors (with the exception of eating or drinking while maintaining distancing) regardless of vaccination status
  • All individuals must have a mask “at the ready” in case distancing cannot be maintained or others request that masks be worn.
Food
  • Covered, shared food is acceptable at casual, on campus events (i.e. pizza or individually wrapped sandwiches or burritos on a tray) so long as utensils are used to remove items from the box or tray.
  • Food must be consumed in accordance with the masking, distancing, and gathering policy, as applicable.
