Research and Study Grants
Call for Applications: The winter 2024/spring 2025 application cycle for Brandeis undergraduate and graduate student research grants is now open. The deadline for submission of applications is November 1, 2024. Notification of final decision will be sent by November 15, 2024.
Students interested in summer funding should apply in the spring during the summer/fall 2025 application cycle.
The maximum grant award is $5,000. Unsure if your project or idea is eligible? Just ask us! Email us your questions at crowncenter@brandeis.edu.
Recipients must confirm their acceptance of the award within 10 days of notification.
Grants
Grant funds may be used for the following purposes:
Grant funds can not be applied toward the purchase of durable equipment such as audio/video equipment, laptop computers, etc.

- Current Brandeis first years, sophomores, juniors, as well as current Brandeis graduate students. Seniors and graduate students in their last year may apply for grants to be used prior to graduation.
- Any field of study may be considered, but the research must be related to the Middle East.
- Students may only receive one grant during their Brandeis undergraduate years and one grant during their graduate years.
- Applicants must be in good academic and community standing.
- The grant funds must be used during the designated time frame for each application cycle.

A five-page (double-spaced) proposal, which includes:

cover sheet with the applicant’s name, undergraduate class or expected date of graduate degree, mailbox, phone number, email address and project title

concise description of the proposed research project, language or study program, or internship with a well-thought-out abstract of the project's objectives and how it fits into the applicant’s program of study

dates and details of the research, study or internship being conducted

summary of the applicant's qualifications to conduct this research, including foreign language skills when applicable

budget

Two letters of recommendation from Brandeis professors. If applying to conduct research, one of the letters should comment on the feasibility of the proposed project as well as the applicant's ability to conduct the research. If you are applying for language study, one of the letters must be from a language instructor or a professor who can comment on the necessity of this language instruction to your studies.
