Cooperation of instructors and an academic calendar conducive to pre-planning.
By providing a final exam schedule very early in the term, if not before, we would enable all students to be able to make their travel plans in the most cost-effective way possible. This requires that instructors commit prior to the start of the term as to whether or not they are giving a final exam, and ideally in having an academic calendar that comprises enough exam days to match our class block system. This may also require shorter exams than our current three-hour system. The work needed comprises surveying instructors about exams prior to the start of the term. Constructing the academic calendar to allow for pre-planning of exams, and gaining administrative and faculty approval for shorter (two-hour) exams.

Success will be based on being able to either publish a preliminary final exam schedule based on the block system (if we can modify academic calendars) or publish the final exam schedule within three weeks of the start of the semester.
Staff time.
Modify advising materials and the website, and make whatever adjustments are necessary to have an announcement display in Workday during those time periods.

Workday implementation.
As part of the Workday student implementation we can make this adjustment, which has become more pressing as students will have the ability to print out unofficial transcripts in self-service and we have seen a rise in the use of unofficial transcripts in the initial stages of graduate applications. Also Workday allows us to present the academic standing information to advisers and students in a different manner, and we do not have to rely on the unofficial transcript for this.
