Tasks

• Review current staffing structure to identify inequities and gaps in representation.

• Define what equity and representation in staff looks like for Spiritual Life.

• Actively share open positions with a wider range of divinity schools and professional networks.

• Build resource network of local chaplains and spiritual mentors of diverse traditions and identities, especially those not represented by staff.

Criteria

• Staff structure and allocation of financial resources reflect the diversity and needs of Brandeis student population.

• Interested students are able to be connected with a spiritual mentor or faith community relevant to their faith tradition, identity or background.

• Spiritual and religious leaders representing a diverse range of traditions and identities are invited to speak on campus.

Tasks

• Conduct annual, deliberate, sustained outreach to the Student Union, Intercultural Center organizations, Gender and Sexuality Center and additional student groups with an interest in religion and spirituality on campus.

Criteria

• At least two sincere efforts will be made annually to schedule a meeting with each group.

• Follow up about any action items generated by the conversations will occur within one month of meeting.

Tasks

• Provide holistic, campuswide training to student leaders about the intersection of race and spirituality.

Criteria

• Training available to all student leaders in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs and the Intercultural Center (through Presence modules).

• All new student leaders of spiritual / religious groups have participated in training by fall 2022.

• All new student leaders of campus organizations have participated in training by fall 2023.

Tasks

• Convene annual conversations around race and spirituality.

• Develop faith-specific educational resources about race and spirituality.

Criteria

• Conversation/series of conversations involving at least eight students takes place annually.

• Opportunity to present Spiritual Life with action items generated by conversation is provided.
