Upcoming diversity, equity, and inclusion presentations
February 2, 2018
Dear Brandeis Community:
As part of my office’s commitment to transparency and openness, I would like to invite you to two presentations.
First, my Student Union counterpart, Amber Abernathy, and I are holding open sessions about our campus’ progress in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will be giving special attention to the agreements students and administrators made following Ford Hall 2015. The original agreements and other diversity-related statements can be found on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Brandeis website.
We will have two open sessions (with the same presentation) on:
- Monday, Feb. 12, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Usdan’s Alumni Lounge; and,
- Tuesday, Feb. 13, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Hassenfeld’s Levine-Ross.
Second, Allyson Livingstone — who has joined my office as the new director of diversity, equity, & inclusion training, education and development — will hold two presentations for faculty and staff (though all members of the community are welcome) with the latest information on our current immigration issues, and ways that staff and faculty can best support students and one another. The training will cover recent developments related to DACA, Temporary Protected Status and campus protocols.
These open sessions (with the same presentation) will take place on:
- Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in 112 Schwartz; and,
- Thursday, Feb. 22, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Intercultural Center’s Swig Hall.
I look forward to seeing you at these events.
Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
