Bachelor of Science in Finance
At Brandeis, finance is rooted in our identity as a liberal arts research university, aiming to provide students with training that is both academically rigorous and possesses "power in practice."
The program stresses analytical and quantitative approaches to financial phenomena, offering a Bachelor of Science degree that meets STEM criteria and parallels the quantitative depth of the university's other STEM tracks. Students receive intensive training in the core subjects of the discipline, including corporate finance, investment and asset management, financial modeling and risk management. Beyond technical proficiency, the curriculum emphasizes the development of essential professional skills in communication and modern teamwork, ensuring graduates can effectively navigate complex organizational environments.
Why Brandeis?
Consistent with the Brandeis belief that a professional education should include a broad perspective, the finance major integrates a multidisciplinary approach. Through "Finance, Technology, and Society" electives, majors explore how financial markets and institutions intersect with fields such as law, government, computer science, engineering, environmental policy and the arts. This ensures that students understand the relationship between finance and the larger society it serves. This comprehensive background prepares graduates for high-level roles in the global financial sector or for advanced study in financial markets, business, law and public policy, equipping them to be responsible and thoughtful citizens in a rapidly changing economic world.
