Why I chose the MSBA program

Harnessing the power of data — and gaining an edge in the job market

It’s never been more important for businesses to properly manage and leverage their data. But having technical skills as a data analyst is often not enough. You also need business knowledge to maximize your career success.

That’s why I chose the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program at Brandeis International Business School.

MSBA students at Brandeis learn how to gather, clean and mine data using SQL, R and Python, and are taught how to visualize data effectively by building dashboards using Tableau. In addition to this technical foundation, students have the opportunity to learn a broad range of business concepts, including finance, marketing and strategy.

The MSBA program prepares students holistically for the corporate world. Graduates know how to apply their technical skills to solve real world business problems, which gives them an important edge in the job market.

A flexible curriculum

What was I looking for in a graduate program? In a word, flexibility.

Beyond the core curriculum, I wanted the ability to choose different combinations of electives and gain a well-rounded educational experience. That’s exactly what you get in the MSBA program.

That is the top reason I chose the Brandeis MSBA. I love the curriculum structure and the flexibility. I have been able to improve my technical skills and gain knowledge in finance by taking finance related electives.

The ability to gain real-world work experience through internships and field projects is also a major plus.

‘The best of both worlds’

Business decisions today are data driven.

The field of data science and analytics is growing quickly and is already playing an influential role across various industries and sectors of the global economy. This creates fantastic opportunities for people who have the technical skills and business acumen to derive value from data.

I highly recommend the MSBA program to prospective students because of its reputation, academic excellence and hands-on learning approach.

Brandeis will provide you with the best of both worlds — the ability to gain technical skills and solid business knowledge in an international setting.
