Student clubs are a vibrant part of student life at Brandeis International Business School — there’s a club for everyone, no matter your interests or skill set!
I’ve long been fascinated by the world of finance, so I was immediately drawn to the Global Markets Investment Club (GMIC).
What truly sets this club apart is the hands-on experience of managing a stock portfolio. GMIC currently oversees assets exceeding $100,000 invested in U.S. stocks and ETFs.
Club members are a mix of experienced investors and enthusiastic learners. We gather weekly to review our assets, discuss market news and strategize about future investments. It’s always a great discussion!
The club functions as a collaborative space where members can propose stocks for the portfolio. All it takes is a well-researched presentation at our weekly meeting, and if unanimously approved, the stock becomes part of our portfolio.
Another GMIC highlight is the club’s annual Stock Pitch Challenge.
This fun event isn’t just a competition between teams of student investors looking to make the most compelling investment pitch — it’s an invaluable networking opportunity.
During the final round of presentations, executives from renowned investment institutions serve as expert judges, offering students a unique chance to showcase their finance knowledge and presentation skills in front of industry leaders.
