Class Correspondent

It’s great to hear about the fun things everyone is up to! I look forward to hearing from all of you for future Class Notes. I am participating in Teach for America as a fifth- and sixth-grade social studies teacher at St. Hope Leadership Academy in New York. I am also working toward a master’s degree in special education from Hunter College.

Daniel Liebman, who lives in Brighton, Mass., with four Brandeis alums, is enjoying his work as a research assistant in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. He loves hanging out with fellow Brandeisians, so give him a call if you’re in the Boston area. Flori Yellin lives in Baltimore and is pursuing a PhD in engineering at Johns Hopkins. Gabrielle Katz is a financial aid counselor at Brandeis, working on the second floor of Usdan. She reports that being an employee on campus is very different from being a student, but — true to the spirit of the Brandeis community — everyone is welcoming and kind. If anyone happens to come to campus, she says, feel free to stop by and say hello. Rajesh Kulenthirarajan works as a research assistant at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he conducts hematology/oncology research. Raj lives in Brighton with Cameron Welter, Adam Stathas and Ethan Davis ’11. Jeremy Elkins, who lives in Chicago, is an account development representative at ifbyphone, the leader in voice-based marketing. He loves both the job and the location. Bryndis (Bryn) Hafthorsdottir moved back home to Iceland to help found a commercial contemporary art gallery in downtown Reykjavik. She is engaged to Sverrir Kristjansson, an Icelandic-Italian 3-D modeler for animated films. Alison Uliss is spending the year in Israel as a Ma’ase Olam Israel Service Fellow. The 10-month service-learning program for college graduates and Israelis ages 21-30 places fellows in a variety of informal educational placements with at-risk youth. Alison works with Druze children in Akko, a city in far northern Israel. Her volunteer placements include helping kids learn trades at a vocational school, leading an art appreciation club and operating an after-school enrichment program at an elementary school.
