About the HRPP: The Basics

The Brandeis University Human Research Protection Program oversees all aspects of human subjects research conducted under the auspices of Brandeis University, including all administrative duties, education and review of human subjects research protocols.

The HRPP encompasses the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the institutional official, the research integrity team of the Office of Research Administration, the vice provost for research, and the associate vice provost for research administration. The purpose of the program is the protection of individuals — and the groups they represent — involved in research conducted under the auspices of Brandeis University.

Below you will find some basic information that governs the review of human subjects research, including how to determine whether your project requires HRPP and/or IRB review, at what level it must be reviewed, the criteria by which it gets reviewed, the process of review, a listing of the current board members and the deadlines for submitting your protocol.
