The Brandeis Plan to Reinvent the Liberal Arts

Advisors for Every Step

Beginning in their first semester, students have a team supporting them. Every student is paired with both an academic and a career advisor — experts who know their fields, often a Brandeis alum or professional mentor. Students receive four years of one-on-one guidance to explore options, sharpen goals and plan a path forward.

Experience Required

At Brandeis, each student’s academic journey is deepened through internships, apprenticeships or research projects. Whether students are drawn to community development, science labs, arts organizations or global opportunities, the Center helps them find the right match — sometimes even before they arrive on campus.

Skills Students Can Prove

Students’ achievements do not live only on a résumé. Brandeis issues a second, career-competency transcript that records the skills and microcredentials earned through classes, internships and co-curriculars. Each accomplishment carries a verified digital badge, giving employers and graduate schools demonstrated evidence of accomplishment.

The Center also powers new ways of teaching and learning. In the Applied Liberal Arts Lab, faculty and students engage with emerging tools like AI and virtual reality — ensuring Brandeis learning is deeply connected to the real world, even as it continually changes.

Where It All Comes Together

The Center is the engine that connects each student’s Brandeis education to the world beyond campus. It brings together advising, hands-on experience, innovation and verified credentials. By graduation, students possess knowledge as well as proof of professional experience — and a powerful network of faculty mentors, alumni leaders and others.
