Announcing Lewis Brooks ’80, P’16 as Founding Director of the Center for Careers and Applied Liberal Arts
Sept. 25, 2025
Dear Brandeisians,
I am delighted to announce that Lewis Brooks ’80, P’16, has agreed to serve as the Founding Director of the Center for Careers and Applied Liberal Arts, a cornerstone of our new effort to reimagine higher education by strengthening the connection between rigorous academic learning and practical, career-focused applications.
Lewis brings decades of experience and knowledge to this role. As Global Chief Information Officer at DDB Worldwide, an award-winning advertising network, he oversaw technology initiatives in over 90 offices around the world.
His organizational and technological skills will be crucial in guiding the successful launch of the new center. He will also leverage his vast experience in alumni relations and corporate relations to build a network of support for new internships. Lewis will partner with the Hiatt Career Center and the Career Strategies and Engagement Center at the School of Business and Economics to develop a world-class career education and advising program, and will collaborate with faculty across the university to build a cutting-edge, competency-based curriculum for our students.
He served on the Brandeis Alumni Association's board of directors from 2011 through 2025, as an at-large member, representative to the Hiatt Career Center, and vice president. From 2019 - 2023 he served as president of the Alumni Board. Lewis has also served on the Brandeis Board of Trustees since 2019. As he assumes this current role, he will take a leave of absence from the board.
Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brandeis and is married to a fellow alumna, Denise Silber Brooks ’84. They have two children, Hannah ’16 and Eddie.
The Center for Careers and Applied Liberal Arts is a critical piece of infrastructure that will support and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff across the university for decades to come. I couldn't be happier with Lewis’ leadership; be sure to join me in giving him a very warm welcome in his new role.
Sincerely,
Arthur Levine
President
