Conversations at The Meeting Game: Making political dialogue possible

Join Mark Brimhall-Vargas, Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, for an open dialogue on the difficulties of approaching conversations across political divides. In this especially polarized moment, people often shy away from direct conversations about politics for fear of being perceived negatively or affixed with labels ranging from “impolite” to “hostile."

How can we engage in positive and productive dialogue around pressing social issues, while also valuing authentic communication that does not gloss over genuine differences of values, opinion, and experience? 

The program is free and open to all. Whether preparing for holiday conversations with family or navigating discussions with colleagues or classmates, we welcome your voice and experience at the table. This conversation will be facilitated with artist Caroline Woolard’s experiential project The Meeting Game (2019–ongoing), currently on view in INDEX: The Meeting.
