Director's Tour: re: collections, Six Decades at the Rose Art Museum (Part 2)

Program August 28, 2021, 1 p.m.
In-Person Program

Join Dr. Gannit Ankori—Henry and Lois Foster Director and Chief Curator of the Rose Art Museum and Brandeis Professor of Fine Arts and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies—for an intimate tour of the museum’s galleries. Dr. Ankori will introduce the Rose’s recently opened exhibition re: collections, Six Decades at the Rose Art Museum, which charts new genealogies linking both iconic and rarely-seen works from the museum’s permanent collection.

This tour will concentrate on one section of the larger exhibition, looking closely at works presented in the museum's Lois Foster Gallery. Here, Dr. Ankori will walk visitors through the exhibition, highlighting artists whose practices challenge and dismantle long-held conventions of art and its histories to boldly reconstruct their own narratives, visual vocabularies, and artmaking practices.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

This tour is organized in conjunction with re: collections, Six Decades at the Rose Art Museum, now on view at the Rose Art Museum. Organized in celebration of the Rose’s 60th anniversary, re: collections, Six Decades at the Rose Art Museum casts a critical eye in two directions: highlighting the radical roots from which the museum grew while showcasing the potential for future transformations.
