Exploring Barkley L. Hendricks’s “Mechanical Sketchbook”

Join Lyman Allyn Curator Tanya Pohrt, PhD and Rose Art Museum Director and Chief Curator Gannit Ankori, PhD, for a virtual conversation exploring Barkley L. Hendricks’s use of his camera as a “mechanical sketchbook" to document everyday encounters and his wider travels. Ankori, who curated the 2022  exhibition "My Mechanical Sketchbook"—Barkley L. Hendricks & Photography at the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, will discuss with Pohrt the significant and multifaceted role of the camera and the photographic image within Hendricks's artistic practice.

This program is a co-presentation with the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, in conjunction with the exhibition Barkley L. Hendricks in New London, May 26–September 3, 2023 at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum.
