Members of the Brandeis community may apply for funding for projects during the Year of Climate Action through the Brandeis Sustainability Fund (BSF). Faculty may use the streamlined BSF application for initiatives relating to incorporating climate change topics in the classroom. Other projects should use the regular application. Applications are reviewed by the Sustainability Committee on a rolling basis. Funding amounts can vary widely; there is no set amount or cap, though the smaller the amount, the more projects BSF can support.
One goal for the year is to encourage faculty to incorporate climate change topics in existing courses, whether in a class, a day, a unit or more.
The education subcommittee of the Brandeis Sustainability Committee has held two faculty workshops in 2022 to provide interested faculty with assistance and resources to incorporate climate change topics in their courses. Opportunities will be announced as they arise. An additional workshop is being planned to be offered tentatively in August 2022.
Below is a curated list created by the Sustainability Committee to provide faculty with resources they can use to incorporate climate change topics into their courses. Please contact us via our feedback form if you have a resource you would like to share.
Inspired by our faculty
Below are some examples of how faculty are planning to incorporate climate change topics into their courses planned for the year. Several faculty utilized our first workshop on integrating sustainability into courses using the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
