To be eligible for Brandeis Upward Bound Program, students must meet the following criteria:
- Currently attending Waltham High School (ninth to 12th graders)
- First-generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor's degree)
- Meet income eligibility guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Education (Federal TRIO Programs Current-Year Low-Income Levels)
- High risk for academic failure
- Demonstrated commitment to academic success and personal growth
- Committed to their personal and academic success
As a participant in Brandeis Upward Bound, students are expected to:
- Attend all program activities, including classes, workshops, field trips and events
- Actively engage in academic coursework and seek assistance when needed
- Attend complete at least two summers with Upward Bound prior to graduation from the program
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect towards peers, mentors and staff
- Take advantage of college preparatory resources and opportunities provided by the
program
- Maintain open communication with mentors and staff regarding academic progress and personal challenges
- Meet with their advisor bi-weekly throughout the academic year and summer program.
All active Upward Bound Students must complete a W-9/Vendor Certification form as part of the enrollment process in order to receive a stipend. These forms will be provided after the application process has been completed.
- Academic year stipends: $40 per month
- Summer stipends: $180 for participation in the full six week program
