"The WSRC Louise Weinberg Arts Internship" (Fall 26-Spring 27 academic year)
The Kniznick Gallery of the Women’s Studies Research Center offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical gallery and arts administration experience with real-world skills by working with professional artists. The Arts Intern will work directly with the Curator of the Kniznick Gallery to assist with the operations of crafting, promoting, and mounting gallery exhibitions, including the development of Brandeis and outside community programming. The intern will be expected to encourage interaction with exhibiting artists, scholars of the WSRC, and students and faculty of Brandeis, while cultivating professional communication skills.

This position will provide opportunities to gain exposure to the Fine Arts field through gallery work, studio and gallery visits, and conversations with arts professionals. There is a $1000 receipt- reimbursable arts enrichment fund to which the intern can apply. This fund can be used for art supplies, museum visits, art books, etc. with prior approval.

At the position’s conclusion, the intern will be asked to produce a summary letter of their time spent in the position, format to be discussed.

The Louise Weinberg Arts Intern duties will include, but are not limited to: performing research, assisting with art handling, packing, and exhibition installation and deinstallations, welcoming visitors to exhibitions, assisting with event promotion, including identifying Brandeis classes for outreach purposes, producing exhibition documents, communicating with student groups, photographing exhibitions and events for social media, and maintaining exhibition archives. The Arts Intern will meet regularly with the Curator to plan their research.
Qualifications:
Related Coursework: Students with an interest in the arts and a focus in Fine Arts; Art History; Women’s Studies, Sexuality, Gender; Social Justice, and/or Diversity are encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills: Knowledge and experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office is required; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite helpful; Proficiency and/or willingness to learn how to use basic tools is essential. Knowledge of and/or past experience with graphic design is a plus. Social media skills helpful.
Experience: The intern must possess strong outward-facing communication skills and be comfortable talking to a diverse range of audiences.
Other: Resourceful self-starter who is highly motivated, organized, and capable of taking on a wide variety of tasks. A student with a wide range of campus contacts – or one who is interested in building new relationships – would be a great fit.
WSRC Communications and Programs Intern Fall 26 - Spring 27 academic year
The WSRC Communications and Programs Intern will assist the WSRC team on various communication tasks to increase the WSRC’s reach and audiences, and will gain experience in women and gender studies, feminist art, and the nonprofit communications fields. This position is for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 academic semesters for five hours per week.
Responsibilities:
· Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns.
· Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.
· Execute social media campaigns and monitor social media channels.
· Write social media captions that speak to the WSRC’s target audience.
· Brainstorm and research ideas for original content.
· Create compelling graphics in Canva and short-form videos to share across social channels.
· Develop new strategies for increasing engagement.
· Ensure brand message is consistent.
· Support in the creation of promotional materials, such as posters and postcards.
· Photograph WSRC events for digital communications.
· Develop new strategies for increasing engagement.
· Perform a variety of program event support tasks including guest reception and set-up/breakdown assistance.
· Identify and connect with student groups and faculty to build an audience for WSRC programs.
Qualifications:
Required: Strong oral and written communication skills; Excellent internet research skills; Demonstrated interest in women and gender studies.
Desired: Experience in digital design and/or digital/social media marketing;
Experience in social media marketing and social media platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and X; Knowledge of social media analytics software to track audience engagement and campaign performance.
