Larry M. Lewellen is the interim vice president for human resources. Reporting to the chief operating officer, the interim vice president of human resources is the senior human resources official at Brandeis, responsible for all human resources functions concerning staff and many human resources functions related to faculty.
Lewellen, a seasoned executive with successful and extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, is a consultant with the Registry for College and University Presidents. Before coming to Brandeis, he was interim chief human resources officer at the University of Maine.
Prior to his consulting work, Lewellen enjoyed a 29-year career at The Ohio State University, with 14 years as vice president and chief human resources officer. At Ohio State, he gained experience in all facets of human resources operations, services and leadership, including wellness, compensation, executive compensation, benefits, talent, employee relations, labor negotiations, management information, PeopleSoft projects, leadership development, strategic planning, pension reform and leading enterprise-wide culture transformation.
Earlier in his career, Lewellen worked at a Fortune 1000 electronics firm in the areas of human resources and organizational performance, and served on the corporate human resources steering committee that helped set international strategy.
He earned a BS in business management, human resources, from Indiana University and an MBA in finance from The Ohio State University.
