Sheryl Sousa is the vice president for student affairs, overseeing the offices of athletics, community living, community service, the Dean of Students, the Health Center, orientation, the Counseling Center, sexual assault services and prevention, student activities, student rights and community standards and student-related Title IX investigations.
Sousa has been a member of the Brandeis staff since 1998, serving as women’s volleyball coach, director of athletics, associate vice president for health and wellness and senior associate vice president for student affairs. During her tenure at Brandeis, she has worked to establish campus resources for sexual assault services and prevention, a rape crisis center on campus and a department to oversee student-related Title IX investigations. While director of athletics, Brandeis teams made 18 NCAA tournament appearances, including five appearances in the national quarterfinals.
Before beginning her career at Brandeis, Sousa served as an Asa Bushnell intern for the Eastern College Athletic Conference, assistant director of athletics at Ithaca College and associate director of athletics and volleyball coach of Binghamton University.
Sousa earned a BA from Brandeis, an MA from Binghamton University and an MBA from the UMass Amherst Isenberg School of Management.
