TRiO Programs

What is TRiO?

For the past 25, Brandeis has been one of the few highly selective colleges chosen to have a Student Support Services program (SSSP) to better serve those who are first-generation college students. SSSP is a part of a network of TRiO programs funded through grants from the U.S. Department of Education and Brandeis University.

TRiO programs were established in 1965 to promote access to and success in higher education for first-generation and low-income students.  Nationwide, there are over 1000 Student Support Services Programs.  Other TRiO programs include the McNair Scholars Program, Upward Bound, Talent Search, and more.  Eligibility for programs is determined by federal guidelines.
