Supporting the University's English Language Learners
English Language Programs predominantly serves non-native speakers of English, and offers language services to all students, staff and faculty at Brandeis as well.
We offer individual tutorial sessions in written and oral skills to both undergraduate and graduate students in the arts and sciences; intensive English classes to Graduate School of Arts and Sciences students; on-site office hours to Heller School of Social Policy and Management students; and workshops, tutorials and consultations to Brandeis International Business School students. We also offer tutorials to postdocs, visiting scholars, staff and faculty. These services are designed to develop oral-communication, analytical-writing and critical-thinking skills.
Additionally, ELP manages the Gateway Scholars Program, which prepares students for the rigorous Brandeis academic curriculum as well as life at a liberal arts university.
Online Services for Fall 2020
All ELP services will be available online for Fall 2020. It is very important that both international and domestic students take advantage of ELP tutorial services to benefit as much as possible from a hybrid/remote teaching and learning setting. ELP staff and peer tutors are trained to help students develop their critical thinking, analytical writing, and academic oral communication skills, and they serve as a valuable resource to students as they transition to this hybrid/remote learning environment. Please seize every opportunity to develop your writing and communication skills with ELP. For more information about ELP writing tutorials or to request ELP oral communication tutorials, please contact Sarah Wagner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
