Preparing Teacher-Leaders to Transform Jewish Day Schools

DeLeT Home

Apply

Applications are currently being accepted -- Rolling admission for the 2008-09 MAT/DeLeT cohort begins January 15, 2008. Questions: DeLeT@brandeis.edu, 781-736-2081.

To apply to the new Elementary MAT (DeLeT) Program, please do the following:

1. Go to the Brandeis Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) website http://www.brandeis.edu/gsas/apply/educationreq.htm. Read everything on the page carefully before you proceed. Follow all application guidelines and apply online using the GSAS application. The only instruction you do not need to follow is to write the statement of purpose. In its place we have two separate essay questions (see below).

2. Write a 2-3 page response to each of the following two questions and email them to MAT@brandeis.edu.

  • Describe a teacher who had a profound impact on you (either positively or negatively). How is that experience influencing your decision to teach?
  • Why is teaching in a Jewish day school important for you personally, and what contribution(s) do you think Jewish day schools have to make to the American Jewish community?

 3. You may be contacted for an interview.

Please direct inquiries to delet@brandeis.edu, or call 781-736-2081.

There is a sister DeLeT program at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in Los Angeles, which has distinct features and shares common elements. For more information about DeLeT at HUC-JIR: http://www.huc.edu/libcenters/edprojects.shtml
