Induction Partnership

Leader: Vivian Troen

Staff: Nili Pearlmutter, Sarah Birkeland (Senior Research Associate)

Like most public schools, Jewish day schools are not organized to support and sustain beginning teachers. Yet, we know from research and personal experience that the first years of teaching often determine whether novices stay in teaching and what kind of teacher they become. The purpose of this research and development initiative is to build the capacity, in a diverse set of day schools, to support new teachers, while learning more about what it takes to create the formal and informal structures for this purpose. Institutional case studies that document the opportunities and barriers to quality induction in Jewish day schools will enable others to learn from this initiative.
