A tradition of innovation and excellence

The chemistry department at Brandeis offers our undergraduate and graduate students a world-class education in an intimate setting where faculty and students work closely.

Prof. Isaac Krauss leads and experiment in the lab with students

Students join Professor Isaac Krauss to work on some of his award-winning HIV vaccine research.

As a chemistry major you'll develop extensive, practical experience through advanced laboratory courses. You'll be strongly encouraged to participate in independent research — our award-winning and nationally recognized faculty's research spans the traditional established areas of chemistry (organic chemistry, physical chemistry) and newly emerging interdisciplinary fields such as chemical biology, biophysical chemistry, and materials chemistry.

Graduates of our undergraduate and graduate programs are welcomed at the highest-ranking graduate and professional schools, as well as in industry.

Grace Han Receives the 2023 Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award

Congratulations to Grace Han, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and the Landsman Career Development Chair in the Sciences, upon receiving the 2023 Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award. She was one of 18 young faculty members (within the first five years of their academic careers) to receive this award in 2023.
