Veteran diplomat Lisa Jean Kubiske serves as deputy chief of the U.S. mission in Brazil. She has helped establish a sustainable sewage program for rural communities and signed an agreement reducing Brazil’s debt to the United States by putting money into the protection of the Amazon rain forest.

Steve Kaplan has lived in Israel for more than 30 years. At Hebrew University, he is the academic director of both the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace and the new program in “Glocal” (Global-Local) Development Studies. He has three children, four stepchildren, one grandchild and 11 stepgrandchildren. Jonathan Davis, CEO of the Davis Companies, was named chair of the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston at the group’s 116th annual meeting. Attendees included past chair Myra Kraft ’64.

Phyllis Witzel Speiser
received the H. Jack Baskin Endocrine Teaching Award from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. She is chief of endocrinology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York and professor of pediatrics at Hofstra North Shore–LIJ School of Medicine.
