Barry Funt was named managing director at Knight Capital Group, where he focuses on commercial real estate finance. Prior to joining Knight, he spent nine years at Natixis Real Estate Capital. Michael Kivort and his wife, Patricia Parker, welcomed daughters Samantha Rose and Abigail Julia into the world on Nov. 28, 2010, in Houston. Michael is an associate with the Brewer Law Group, while his wife is an assistant professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Both are looking forward to the special challenges of raising twins.

Alyse (Richman) Barbash writes, “I am very excited to share that I was named executive director of the Haven From Hunger, one of the largest food pantries and soup kitchens on the North Shore of Boston.” Dirk Laukien founded Black Forest Ventures in Houston, a management company that oversees more than $500 million in investments made by Laukien, members of his family and a small number of other individuals. The investors own office buildings, retail facilities, restaurants and aviation-related operations.
