Event founder Deborah Porter organized the second annual Boston Book Festival in October 2010. A total of 130 authors participated, up from about 90 last year. The celebration, which took place in various locations around Copley Square, also included Boston’s first “One City One Story’’ event, a citywide reading-club discussion of “The Smile on Happy Chang’s Face,’’ a short story by Tom Perrotta.

Robert Gutkin has joined Andrews Kurth in the law firm’s Washington, D.C., office. He is a litigator and trial attorney with more than 25 years of experience. His patent litigation practice includes technologies as diverse as medical devices, cellular technology, networking technology, fiber optics, catalytic converters and smart card manufacturing. He also regularly represents clients on matters involving trademark, copyright and unfair competition cases.
