What's the difference between a nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian? An RD will always be considered a nutritionist but the reverse is not necessarily true. I have a degree in dietetics, did my internship at The Massachusetts General Hospital and am licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. My position on campus is that of nutritionist; my credentials are those of a Registered Dietitian.I see students in my office in the health center. I also provide nutrition information on the food offered in the dining halls and act as a liaison between the students and Dining Services. Please come up and say hello when you see me in Sherman Dining Hall or Usdan during lunch. I'd be happy to answer any of your nutrition questions.
My nutrition philosophy is that there are no "good" or "bad" foods; it's how you put them together that determines whether or not your diet is healthy. All foods can be part of a healthy diet. I advocate and counsel using an intuitive eating approach that is based on awareness of hunger and respect for fullness rather than an externally-imposed diet restriction. Balanced eating should result in feelings of satisfaction along with improved mental and physical performance.
