Description

If you are someone who has said “I can’t draw”, but would like to, or if you like to draw and want to improve your skills, this class is a great place to start. This course will start with some simple exercises to help understand how to go from seeing the visual image to drawing it on paper.  The various materials used for drawing and how they are used by artists will be introduced.  We will spend our time exploring techniques with both making our marks and “constructing” the image within our lessons on Perspective and Grid Transfer. With supervision, you will be free to work from a still life, or from a photograph of your choosing. Yes, you can draw!

This course will start the same as the 5 week class given in the Fall 2024 with the addition of extended lessons, more time for practice, and pen and ink drawing.  If you have taken this course previously, but would like to further develop your skills, the SGL will work with you on taking your initial simple drawings to a more advanced level.

Group Leadership Style

Hands-on Instructional drawing class.  With direction, participants will be working/drawing for most of the class.

Course Materials

For the first class we will be using plain paper and #2B pencils. The SGL will explain some of the many choices of materials that you can purchase for working in the remaining classes. If you do have a sketch pad and pencil assortments, please bring them to the first class.

Preparation Time

Members will be expected to continue working on the skills as they are introduced.
