Bio: Amy has served as the CEO of 2Life Communities for over a decade,Professional headshot of Amy Schechtman. where she successfully launched an aggressive expansion campaign to fill gaps in the senior housing affordability marketplace, managed the creation of a quasi-endowment to support agency innovation, and has more than doubled the number of communities built and supported by 2Life. She brings over 30 years’ experience in housing and economic development policy, government, and nonprofit sectors. As community service and social justice are at the heart of her work, Amy has served as a Board or committee member for Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation, the Governor’s Council on Aging, The Community Builders, Association of Jewish Aging Services, Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative, Citizens Housing and Planning Association, Jewish Funders Network, GBH Boston Public Radio, the Governor’s Housing Advisory Council, and Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Amy was awarded the Outstanding Impact Award from CHAPA in 2021, in addition to having been honored as a McKnight’s Women of Distinction and named as a Changemaker by Senior Housing News in 2022. 2Life Communities was listed by The Women’s Edge and Globe Magazine as number 54 on the Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts in 2023. She was featured in Boston Globe’s Bold Types series as ‘one of Boston’s busiest developers’ and was a key expert providing testimony in the Massachusetts’ Affordable Homes Act in early 2024. She has a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from The John’s Hopkins University.
