Testing Positive
Any student–undergraduate or graduate–at Brandeis University who tests positive to COVID-19 (whether via PCR or rapid test) is required to report their case to the University by contacting bctp@brandeis.edu. The Brandeis Community Tracing Program (BCTP) team will work with the student to trace their exposure to those on campus, report the case to the MA Department of Public Health, and determine when a student may re-engage in campus activities.
What Do You Need To Do
In general (and there are exceptions), in fully vaccinated individuals, the requirements are as follows for individuals who test positive to COVID-19:
- Isolate for a minimum of 5 days from a positive test. The day you test positive or have an onset of symptoms counts as “Day 0”, so it’s really 6 days in total.
- After 5 days, if the symptoms have significantly improved or resolved, the individual may return to campus activities, provided they are masked at all times while around others through day 10.
- The BCTP will check in periodically to confirm symptoms and clear students to return to campus activities. Their calls will come from “Private Number.” Please watch for their calls and answer them, as not cooperating with the contact tracing team or the occupational health provider is against Brandeis policy and will result in disciplinary proceedings through the Dean of Students Office.
- For those who are not fully vaccinated, the contact tracers and will determine return-to-campus eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
