New Scholarworks Faculty Profiles
On December 3, 2021, members of the ITS and library staffs held an information session with Brandeis faculty to discuss the capabilities of our new online faculty profiles, hosted by ScholarWorks. The profile template will be modified after more input from the faculty. Please note that you may find that when you click on your profile, the scholarship information is incomplete or the directory information is badly formatted. There are a series of ongoing processes that will automate much of what will appear in your profile. These are simply placeholders scraped from the current profiles and do not reflect how your final profile will look.
Faculty do not have to do very much to prepare for the transition to the new profiles. Early next year, ScholarWorks will have the ability to populate your ORCID research account by scraping the web. The best thing you can do at this time is to connect your ORCID ID to your profile in ScholarWorks:
- Step 1: Log into ScholarWorks.
- Step 2: Click the "Edit profile" button above your photo.
- Step 3: Under the Researcher Identifiers section, click "Register or Connect your ORCID ID."
- Step 4: Login to your existing ORCID ID account or create one if you do not have one. ORCID ID registration is free and takes less than a minute.
- Step 5: Authorize Brandeis as a Trusted Organization when prompted.
If you do not have an ORCID ID, you will be able to create one.
If you are not sure if you have one, please reach out to librarypublishing@brandeis.edu.
This will increase the likelihood that the "smart harvesting" process will populate your scholarship in your new profile effectively. For more information about setting up your ORCID, please review the ORCID guide on the library website.
NOTE: You may find that when you click on your current ScholarWorks profile, the scholarship information is incomplete or the overview information is badly formatted. These are simply placeholders scraped from the current profiles and do not reflect how your actual profile will look. We do NOT recommend updating any of this right now. Instead, let the processes run and allow data to be migrated into the new profiles. If you make updates to your profile, there is a possibility that it may be overwritten when the migration takes place. We will follow up when that process is complete.
