Information for Prospective Students
Thank you for your interest in Brandeis! Please review the information on this page and then reach out to music@brandeis.edu with any further questions.
Auditions
Music Program
The Brandeis Music Department does not hold auditions prior to a student's matriculation at Brandeis. Our music major has three tracks: Performance, History & Culture, and Composition & Theory. Auditions for the Performance track and portfolio submissions for the Composition & Theory track typically occur during the student's sophomore year.
While we do not hold formal auditions prior to matriculation, prospective students are welcome to submit music portfolios via Slideroom as supplemental materials to the Common App. A music faculty member will evaluate the submission and it will be included in your admissions file for consideration as part of the undergraduate admissions process.
Ensembles
Auditions for department ensembles primarily occur at the beginning of the fall semester. Once the schedule is determined, it can be found here. For spring semester auditions, please reach out to the ensemble director to set up a time to meet. Ensemble director contact information can be found here.
