Student looks at screen to practice mock surgery using joystick

During the Summit, delegates venture off-campus to explore the leading medical institutions of the Boston area. They visit state-of-the-art medical and research facilities and the campus of a nationally ranked medical school. These visits offer students a singular opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes work that is involved in running a hospital. They learn from top-tier doctors, nurses, administrators and researchers; people who are defining the future of medical innovation and patient care. They achieve a better understanding, not just of the day-to-day life of these individuals, but of the passion and commitment that drives their work.

The delegates come away with both a better understanding of how medical institutions function and a sense of clarity about what they may choose to pursue in the future. Many visits include hands-on activities that expose delegates to cutting edge medical science and doctor training procedures. Our visits inform delegates in a wide range of medical possibilities, from pediatric medicine, to cancer research, to rehabilitation work. Through these visits, delegates are able to see the broad spectrum of possibilities in the medical field and to narrow down what they hope to pursue as they enter college and beyond.
