Elections for 18 open positions on the Student Union started at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday. A total of 27 different students are running for 10 open seats on the senate, five open seats on the judiciary, one representative to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC) and two representatives to the Community Emergency and Enhancement Fund (CEEF).

Linzy Rosen ’22 and Cassady Adams ’22, the president and vice president of the new club PERIOD @ Brandeis, presented to the Senate in hopes of gaining probationary status. Rosen explained that PERIOD is a “global youth-run organization” dedicated to “addressing the issue of menstrual inequity,” a problem exacerbated by the inaccessibility of menstrual products to low-income people.

Last week, Executive Senator Kent Dinlenc ’19 introduced a proposal to de-charter The Brandeis Hoot, a campus newspaper established in 2005. The Senate waited a week between the proposal introducing to the Senate members and voting on it.

Student Union President Hannah Brown circulated a Google form in Brandeis Facebook groups earlier this month which invited students to share bad experiences or “horror stories” with financial aid at Brandeis.

The Student Union Vice President and Treasurer are resigning, according to an email sent from the Union to the student body Tuesday, Nov. 27. Both positions must be filled by the end of the semester, according to the email.
