Some students who are considering health professions school choose to pursue other interests while at Brandeis; others might not realize their desire to pursue a health professions career until after they graduate. There are programs designed for students after they graduate to complete their pre-health prerequisites, often often referred to as a "career changer" post-baccalaureate programs.  The coursework generally consists of all the requisite undergraduate premedical courses and can be completed in one to two years. Upper-level science electives may also be available depending on your academic background and on the program you're enrolled in. The typical postbac student has earned a bachelor's degree outside of the life sciences, has been in the workforce for several years, and is committed to switching to a career in medicine.
