Pre-Health After Brandeis
Some students who are considering health professions school choose to pursue other interests while at Brandeis; others might not realize their desire to pursue a health professions career until after they graduate. There are programs designed for students after they graduate to complete their pre-health prerequisites, often often referred to as a "career changer" post-baccalaureate programs. The coursework generally consists of all the requisite undergraduate premedical courses (one year with lab of general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology), and can be completed in one to two years. Upper-level science electives may also be available depending on your academic background and on the program you're enrolled in. The typical postbac student has earned a bachelor's degree outside of the life sciences, has been in the workforce for several years, and is committed to switching to a career in medicine.
