Glide Year Panel

Wednesday, January 23, 2019 7:00pm-8:00pm in Skyline.

Wondering what it would mean to take a a year (or two or more) between graduating from Brandeis and beginning your professional program? Already committed to taking that time but unsure of how best to spend it? Director Kate Stutz will give a brief presentation about what Glide Years can include, how they benefit your application, etc. and she will be joined by a panel of folks who have done or are in the middle of their glide experiences will discuss their experience. 

Pre-Health Midyear Orientation

Friday, January 25, 2019 10:00am-11:15am in the Alumni Lounge (Usdan Student Center - West Side)

Senior Advisor Jean Deo and Program Administrator Erika Tai will review course requirements, extracurricular opportunities, etc. for midyear pre-health students at Brandeis. We will answer questions from the audience and share tips on how to make the most of your Brandeis experience. 

Brandeis Summer Shadow Program Information Session

Tuesday February 5, 2019 12noon-1pm, Study Abroad Conference Room (Usdan 169)

Did you know Brandeis hosts its own summer shadowing program that matches current pre-health students with physicians at Mass General Hospital (MA), Thomas Jefferson Hosiptal (PA), Stony Brook Medical Center (NY), and more? Come learn about the program, each site, and how to apply! Multiple new sites have been added for this year. 

Making the Most of Your Summer as a Pre-Health Student

Advisors are often asked how pre-health students can use their summers (and other school breaks) to do things that enhance their professional school applications. In this workshop, we will go over strategies, opportunities, and best practices of making the most out of your summer. 

Research Opportunities for Pre-Health Students

Tuesday March 5, 2019 12noon-1pm, Study Abroad Conference Room (Usdan 169)

This workshop will focus on the role of research in a pre-health student's portfolio. We will review different kinds of research, research opportunities, and how the research you do can influence students far beyond the year it is completed. 

Professional School Visits

St. George's University 

Wednesday, February 6, 2019 12noon-1pm, Study Abroad Conference Room (Usdan 169)

Located in Grenada, West Indies, St. George's University has MPH, MD, DVM, and other professional degrees in the health sciences.  Applications are currently be accepted for August 2019, but there is also a February 2020 start date for many programs. Admissions representatives from the University will be visiting Brandeis to meet with interested students.

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Wednesday, March 6, 2019 2pm-3pm, Study Abroad Conference Room (Usdan 169)

An admissions representative from LECOM is coming to campus to discuss their programs in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine, health services administration, biomedical ethics, and post-baccalaureate programs. The presentation will also include insider tips on how to make one’s application more competitive.
