As you begin your academic career at Brandeis University, Student Support Services is with you from day one through your graduation. As part of Academic Services, there are many services that are available, and we encourage you to use them. Academic advising is a resource you will find within SSSP and Academic Services.
How Does It Work?
Brandeis has made a commitment to support your academic career and help you graduate by providing access to professional staff throughout Brandeis. In SSSP, you are assigned an advisor within SSSP and who works collaboratively with Academic Services class advisors, faculty and other departments’ staff. Your SSSP advisor assists you in any area you want to work on including selecting classes, mapping and declaring majors, talking about your career plans, and discussing your personal plans.
What Does It Do for Me?
SSSP is a program which encourages students to make their own customized academic plan and where staff members meet with you to provide the advice, resources, and time to craft your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly plans. There is no formula for your success, but statistics show that the more you are in communication with staff and the more you use services, the more successful you will be. There is no limit to how many times you can meet with your advisor.
Remember, whether it is the beginning of the semester, midterms, or finals, SSSP staff and Academic Services class advisors work together to come up with the best support system for you! You don’t have to wait for us to call you and make an appointment.
