Program Chairs
Graduate Professional Studies Program Chairs teach courses in their programs, recruit and mentor instructors, oversee course quality and advise students on program and course requirements. They also direct the efforts of industry executives who serve on our program advisory boards to ensure that our courses stay current and relevant.
Daniel Caffrey, Ph.D.
Instructor/Program Chair of Bioinformatics
Daniel is a computational biologist at Pfizer Inc. He received his Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin in 2001. His research interests include protein evolution, genome analysis, protein-drug interactions and protein-protein interactions.
Daniel is the project leader for PFAAT, a popular bioinformatics application.

Leanne Bateman, M.A.

J. Erik Hemdal, M.S.
Instructor/Program Co-Chair of Software Engineering
Erik works as a software engineer for Comprehensive Power, Inc., developing real-time control software. He also consults and writes about software and IT topics for Stoney Hill Associates.
Erik is a member of IEEE and ACM.

Cynthia Phillips, Ph.D.
Instructor/Program Chair of Information Technology Management, Information Security, and Health and Medical Informatics
Cynthia is currently serving as a full-time instructor as well as the chair of the IT Management, Information Assurance, and Health and Medical Informatics Programs. Her background is in software development, requirements engineering and information systems management.
She has also taught a variety of industry seminars and has been involved in online education at Brandeis and other institutions.

Aline Yurik, Ph.D.
Instructor/Program Chair of Virtual Management, Program Co-Chair of Software Engineering
Aline is a software solutions architect specializing in enterprise and business systems design, architecture and development. She has been managing, leading and participating in virtual teams for the past 12 years. Aline has also been a software development manager on a number of information technology projects.
Aline teaches courses in the Virtual Management as well as in the Software Engineering curriculum. She has a Ph.D. in computer science from Brandeis University.
