The goal of the fringe-benefit program at Brandeis University is to provide employees with a core set of benefits that adequately meets their needs and the needs of their families. The university currently offers health and dental insurance, life and long-term disability insurance plans, flexible-reimbursement accounts and a basic and voluntary retirement plan as core benefits to eligible employees. In addition to these core benefits, the university provides other benefits, services and activities to help enhance employees' quality of life.
Since the university’s founding in 1948, the benefits program has been developed and changed to respond to the needs of its staff. Fringe benefits are reviewed annually. Changes in benefits are based on need and available resources as well as any governmental regulations that might impact such benefits. The university reserves the right to make changes to its benefits program at its discretion and when circumstances warrant.
